Shloop is the Sustainable Shoe Factory that helps brands produce and recycle shoes by converting sustainable materials into premium shoes for Circular Footwear. Shloop Inc is a Public Benefit Corporation with the goal and purpose to establish a new local footwear manufacturing model that enables product recycling and circularity by using sustainable materials and provides end-of-life shoe repair and recycling options for brands and consumers. The company's technological developments will benefit the public through reducing the environmental impacts of footwear manufacturing. Through education and training of sustainable footwear production techniques, we can stimulate the local economy through the creation of new career opportunities for artisans, designers, and technicians. Shloop has two divisions, one acting as a Tier 2 shoe component factory, making insoles, midsoles outsoles and sandals; and a Tier 1 shoe factory assembling finished shoes. Footwear brands are seeking sustainable factories that are trustworthy and transparent partners that enable product circularity and sustainability certifications. Consumers are demanding sustainable products that reduce carbon emissions, reduce water pollution, minimize waste, and allow for shoes to be recycled at the end of life. Trade wars, pandemic, and geopolitics has led to higher costs, limited capacity, longer lead times, and less transparency. Shloop uses sustainable technologies such as recycled and bio-based materials, circular shoe designs that can be recycled through a high-speed, automated 3D shoe sole and 3D knitting manufacturing process to produce a wide range of premium shoes. Shloop enables products to be created faster and at a lower cost than mass produced products allowing for decentralized production closer to the consumer. Sustainable Footwear Manufacturing
The Shloop factory will use 3DTI technology deploying automated 3D thermoforming and injection machinery. 3DTI merges the best of 3D printing and packaging technology for high velocity and highly flexible manufacturing. The equipment will use 3D printed molds, rapid change-over and reduced manufacturing steps to allow for same day production of multiple products scaling from prototyping to high velocity manufacturing at scale using the same platform. The 3DTI technology provides a local manufacturing solution with low environmental impact for small batches through to mass production for various product applications. The flexibility of volume allows production to match consumer trends on demand. The 3DTI process applies digital technology, automation and a combination of traditional machine-assisted lasting, soling and production techniques that can replace the inefficient, labor intensive and inflexible manufacturing processes traditionally used for shoe manufacturing in Asia.
